Gulf Island National Sea Shore & Fort Pickens, Pensacaola, FL

Barbara and I arrived at our campsite on the shores of the gulf and set up camp in beautiful Fort Pickens Campground. The images below are of Fort Pickens, Gulf Island National Seashore , Gun Batteries, and our campsite. We were very impressed with this beautiful National Seashore with it's white sandy beaches and rich historical background. Fort Pickens is a large fort with many rooms to explore surrounded by gun battery fortifications. The bird life was abundant and the natural surroundings lovely to explore.

Suwannee River State Park, Live Oak, FL

Suwannee River State Park

Barbara and I arrived at Suwannee River State Park campground late afternoon and set up camp in a shady sight on a warm and humid afternoon.

Our Campsite

Suwannee River is one of our favorite state parks as the facilities and surroundings are very well kept. The River was very high creating a hazard for boaters as the park closed the boat ramp as well as several trails.

Flooded Boat Ramp

This did not stop us from taking a late afternoon hike along the river. We came back from our hike very impressed by the interesting scenery created by the high water flooding areas we have previously seen as dry creating a true Cypress swamp.
